Today there is an almost limitless amount of faith-based information available freely online and in print, but is all of it trustworthy? Not everything labeled “Christian” is in agreement with what the Bible teaches. Calvary Chapel Magazine is a quarterly Magazine created by professional journalists, focused on demonstrating and upholding the core beliefs that Calvary Chapel fellowships share.
Here are a few biblical principles derived from Pastor Chuck Smith’s book, Calvary Chapel Distinctives, that we strive to demonstrate and maintain in our publication:
Ministry is not a profession we choose, but a calling from God.
Our model for what church ought to be comes from the Bible, especially the Book of Acts.
The Holy Spirit empowers us for ministry.
Jesus will build His church, not man.
Salvation is by the grace of God, and His desire is to restore broken lives.
Pastors are responsible to teach the full counsel of God’s Word, from Genesis to Revelation.
Our focus in worship is to glorify Jesus Christ, not draw attention to ourselves.
Jesus will return for His church, and we must be ready for that day.
We serve the Lord by depending on His Spirit, not our own abilities.
Love is the most important spiritual gift we can possess.
There is a balance between God’s sovereignty and man’s responsibility.
God wants us to continually step out in faith as He leads.
